We are leading the way in making public transport more accessible, improving integration between buses and trains, providing great value travel and using smarter technology to make journeys easier.
Accessible travel:
- Stagecoach invests in hundreds of new fully accessible low-floor buses for the UK each year, and we are on target to meet the Government timetable for compliance with disability legislation ahead of schedule. Many of our coaches have a special lift for wheelchair passengers.
- We also help local authorities provide demand responsive transport services, which provide a service to and from people’s homes and also help boost transport accessibility in rural and less populated areas.
- Our train companies are investing in many station schemes to improve access to platforms through ramps and lifts. We have provided dedicated wheelchair spaces on our trains, and have also invested in improved audio and visual information for passengers with hearing and sight impairment.
- In the United States, we have retro-fitted a number of our existing coaches with accessible lifts, while in Canada we provide accessible coaches on any scheduled service via a 24-hour advance booking system.
- We invest heavily in staff training and maintain links with disability groups to ensure both the needs of our passengers and employees are considered.
- Our websites are designed to maximise ease of use by customers with visual impairment.
Affordable travel:
- Stagecoach is officially Britain’s best value major bus operator, according to independent transport consultants TAS, with fares up to 30% cheaper than the UK’s other major transport groups.
- We offer heavily discounted multi-journey tickets, with easy online booking across the UK, as well as discounted tickets for students.
- We are also the market-leader for budget inter-city coach travel, with prices in the UK and US from just £1 and $1, plus booking fee.
- Our budget rail service megatrain.com gives passengers travel from £1 plus booking fee to many UK destinations.
- We have introduced innovations such as Best Fare Finder to help customers get the best deals on our train services.
